Teaching Philosophy

One purpose of art education that my classroom will provide is to experience a universal language spoken by all people. I want to really push diversity in my classroom and really show that even if we cannot all communicate verbally, humans can all share art as a form as communication. Art can really bring different cultures and ethnicities together and because of that art is a great way of expressing who one is and can even serve as a communication method to oneself through exploration of identity.  I also  enjoy looking at art education as having the purpose to engage in a form of play. Play is so important in a kid’s development because they gain knowledge that is driven through exploration and curiosity. This will result in developing social skills and problem-solving skills as they reach adulthood. I want to use play in my classroom in a way kids can explore themselves and the people around them so that they develop the social skills they need for the outside world. I want to let my student’s curiosity run freely so that their root of creativity can blossom to its fullest potential.

Overall, I want my students to be provided the best I can supply them. As they grow, I want to grow alongside them. I believe that my students will learn from me and I will learn from them. I want to improve my pedagogy styles as every year goes by and will really focus on how my students are growing as people in a community, and as individuals. I enjoyed exploring my personal identify and how that has affected what I want my professional identity to look like in a classroom setting. I cannot wait to help all students find and learn about themselves to their best capability like I have in this project. I am ready for my art educational journey and will thrive to be a teacher that will impact every student in a positive way.
